Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard or expensive with these kitchen staples

The thought of completely changing your diet can feel a bit overwhelming, but a few basic changes can go a long away. 

Hillsborough County Aging Services Dietician Brian Taylor says keeping basic ingredients on hand at all times can improve your physical fitness and power your mind! 

Some brain-healthy foods to include on your next shopping trip:

  • Canned tuna or salmon for Omega 3 fatty acids 
  • Coffee or green tea in moderation for antioxidants and brain stimulation 
  • Assorted berries 
  • Turmeric to fight inflammation  
  • Chia and flax seeds for protein and fiber 
  • Dark chocolate in moderation for brain- healthy acids 
  • Olive oil for brain- healthy fats 
  • Avocado for protein, fiber, and healthy fats 
  • Citrus fruits for Vitamin C 
  • Beans for fiber, vitamins, and minerals 
  • Whole- grain carbohydrates
