Proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle help power your body and mind

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be bland chicken and boring vegetables.

Check out this quick, easy, and delicious yogurt parfait recipe from Hillsborough County Aging Services’ Dietician Brian Taylor!

Ingredients:

  • Light or nonfat yogurt
  • Strawberries, blueberries, or fruit of choice
  • Low sugar cereal or granola
  • Chia seeds
  • Unsalted nuts of choice
  • Dark chocolate (optional)

Start with a base of yogurt and layer toppings the way you’d like. Taylor says this healthy treat will keep your mind and body fueled for hours.

According to Mental Health America (MHA), eating good, healthy food can boost your energy, lower the risk of developing certain diseases, provide fuel to your brain, counteract the impact of stress on your body, and affect mood-related body chemicals. Dietician Brian Taylor recommends starting small with a few basic lifestyle and diet changes, then incorporating more day by day, or week by week, for better chances of long-term wellness improvements.
