Whether it’s listening to music or seeing a stage play, the arts can make us happier and foster connection with others. Plus, embracing your own creativity can help you manage negative feelings like stress, depression, or anxiety, according to the World Health Organization.  

Musical activities like singing, playing an instrument, or listening to calming music have been shown to improve our overall quality of life. Dancing helps too! It’s great for your physical health and helps ease stress. In children especially, dancing can improve their mood and boost their self-confidence.  

New Tampa Performing Arts Center (NTPAC) opened in 2023 and is quickly becoming a home for the arts in our community. People come to see live theater, experience concerts, and learn new skills through NTPAC’s dance and drama classes. For this Mindful Monday series, NTPAC staff and volunteers share how the arts play a role in our mental wellbeing and the benefits of welcoming the arts into your life.       

Hillsborough County Mindful Mondays   

Mindful Mondays promotes different ways you can make your mental health a priority, despite having a busy schedule. From chair yoga virtual classes to tips on how to decompress after a long day, Hillsborough County's Mindful Mondays has various interactive resources for you to access, no matter what day or time it is. New content is updated on a continuing basis.
