Information on how to order additional or replacement gray garbage and blue recycling roll carts (commonly called garbage and recycling cans)
In addition to paying for a roll cart, you can also request and pay to swap to a larger or smaller cart (35, 65, or 95-gallon) or swap your cart for sanitary reasons.
Garbage and recycling roll cart fees
- Additional/New Cart
- $65 per roll cart
- Choose from three available sizes: 35, 65, or 95-gallon
- Note: Service providers are only obligated to collect two roll carts of each type on scheduled collection days - two gray garbage and two blue recycling carts
- Replacement Cart Fee
- $65 per roll cart for existing customers
- This fee applies to carts that are missing or damaged beyond repair, such as those with holes, cracks, or broken lids
- Choose from three available sizes: 35, 65, or 95-gallon
- Cart Size Swap Fee
- $20 per swap to exchange an existing cart for a different size (35, 65, or 95-gallon)
- The existing cart must be usable, non-damaged roll cart. If the vendor determines the cart is unusable, the exchange will not be completed and a replacement cart order will be required.
- Failed Service Swap Fee
- If your roll-cart isn’t left curbside, and the technician is unable to complete the swap or replacement, a $20 return fee will apply
- Sanitary Swap
- A $20 fee applies per cart exchange when replacing a usable, non-damaged roll cart for sanitary reasons
Broken wheels?
If the wheels on one of your County-provided gray or blue roll carts are damaged and it is repairable, we will repair it at no charge. Please keep the broken roll cart curbside until the technician can complete the wheel or axle repair.
If the cart is determined to be non-repairable when the technician arrives, a replacement roll cart must be purchased. Visit the Report a Broken Wheel or Axle on your Garbage or Recycling Cart page for more information and links to report the damage.
Things to consider
- New construction home: Residents who have moved into a newly constructed home without carts CANNOT request carts using the online application. Please call (813) 272-5680 to speak with a solid waste customer service representative about receiving initial carts.
- Existing home without roll carts: Residents are required to purchase at least one gray garbage roll cart
- Residents may only request one additional gray garbage roll cart and one additional blue recycling cart
- Roll cart delivery orders will be completed within three business days of the initial date of purchase
- Roll cart recovery: We no longer retrieve roll carts for removal unless they are being exchanged due to a replacement or cart size swap request. If your cart does not meet these criteria, you may:
- Keep the old cart
- Repurpose the cart
- Drop it off at your nearest Community Collection Center (this will not count against your disposal points)
