Nominate a neighborhood for our annual recognition awards
The Hillsborough County Neighborhood Awards program recognizes eligible neighborhood organizations in unincorporated Hillsborough County that foster healthy, safe, and engaged neighborhoods. One category winner with the most impactful project will also be selected as the Hillsborough County 2025 Neighborhood of the Year and receive a $500 check. The application period is now closed for 2024 and will open again in July 2025.
The 2024 Neighborhood category award winners and Neighborhood of the Year will be announced on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Neighborhood Award categories
Healthy Neighborhood Award
- This award recognizes a neighborhood organization that fosters the health of its community through conservation, environmental stewardship, or healthy lifestyle offerings
- Healthy Neighborhood Submission Examples: a community cleanup, tree planting, xeriscaping in common areas, neighborhood litter walks, low-volume irrigation, healthy eating programs, mental health or well-being programs, play or exercise projects, walking path creation, healthy cooking demonstrations, and Zen Garden creation.
Safe Neighborhood Award
- This award recognizes a neighborhood organization that made their community safer or worked towards increased preparedness
- Safe Neighborhood Submission Examples: swim safety, stranger danger, anti-bullying, gun safety, online safety, creating disaster kits for the community, working with partner agencies to develop a neighborhood preparedness plan, or your neighborhood’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) activities to support Hillsborough County’s disaster preparedness efforts.
Engaged Neighborhood Award
- This award recognizes a neighborhood organization that fosters community spirit and engagement through volunteerism or communication initiatives
- Engaged Neighborhood Submission Examples: food pantry donation events, programs to assist neighbors in need, events, initiatives, or communications that connect community members.
Eligibility
- Prior to applying for the Neighborhoods Award Program, you must be a registered Homeowners Association, Civic Association, Condominium Association, or Neighborhood Association located within unincorporated Hillsborough County
- To register or validate your organization is listed, click here Neighborhood Roster
- Submissions that received an award in previous years are not eligible
- Eligible organizations may submit one application per award category for projects that were completed between July 2024 and July 2025
The online application for the 2025 awards will be available beginning July.
