Obtain, renew, update, or replace

If your dog, cat, or ferret is 4 months of age or older and lives with you in Hillsborough County, it must have a valid pet registration tag. Pet registration tags are a legal requirement and shows that your pet is up to date on rabies vaccinations, helps authorities quickly identify and return lost pets, and may be required in emergency or disaster situations. View the pet registration tag fee list.

Obtain a tag

Pet registration tags can be purchased in multiple ways. You have the option to obtain a tag that is valid for up to 3 years.

  • Online: Purchase via the online portal
  • From a veterinarian: All veterinary clinics in Hillsborough County have the pet registration tag available for purchase
  • In person: Visit the Pet Resource Center with an up-to-date rabies certificate from your veterinarian
  • By mail: Mail in a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate from your veterinarian along with a check (not cash) to the Pet Resource Center (440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619) made payable to: Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners

Renew a tag

If your pet registration tag is nearing expiration, you can renew it by doing one of the following:

  • Online: Renew via the online portal
  • In person: Visit the Pet Resource Center with an up-to-date rabies certificate from your veterinarian
  • By mail: Mail in a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate from your veterinarian along with a check (not cash) to the Pet Resource Center (440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619) made payable to: Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners

Update a tag

If your personal information has changed (such as an address or phone number), you can request an update to your pet registration tag by doing one of the following:

Replace a tag

If you have lost your pet registration tag, you must provide the original tag receipt and/or the pet’s rabies certificate. There is a $5 replacement fee, and replacements can be requested by doing one of the following:

  • In-person: Visit the Pet Resource Center with a copy of relevant documents
  • By mail: Mail in a copy of relevant documents along with a check (not cash) to the Pet Resource Center (440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619) made payable to: Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners

Fees

View the pet registration tag fee list. Note that residents with service dogs can request registration tag fees to be waived by filling out the waiver request form and mailing or dropping it off at the Pet Resource Center along with a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate from your veterinarian.
