County set to start work on critical wastewater transmission line along Waters Avenue
Hillsborough County, Fla. (July 9, 2026) - Hillsborough's Waters Avenue Force Main Replacement Project will fix a critical wastewater pipeline from west of Manhattan Avenue along Waters Avenue to Sheldon Road.
A 2021 assessment indicated compromised performance along the pipeline and concluded that its replacement is necessary to maintain reliable service for customers and environmental quality.
Hillsborough residents can learn more about the project at an open house on Monday, July 13, at Town 'N Country Regional Public Library.
Project highlights include:
- Replacing the aging 24-inch force main pipeline along Waters Avenue
- Installing Air Release Valves (ARVs) to prevent gas buildup and improve system performance
- Building the new pipeline to meet current standards
The project will provide several key benefits to the community, including:
- Improved reliability of wastewater service along Waters Avenue
- Sustainable and resilient wastewater service to support current customers and future growth in the North County service area
- Enhanced environmental protection by minimizing the potential for leaks or spills
- Long-term cost savings by reducing emergency repairs and maintenance needs
The $50 million project is expected to be completed by early 2028.
