Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 18, 2026) - Residents who travel through the intersection at Lithia-Pinecrest Road and County Road 39 near Pinecrest Elementary School have an opportunity to review plans to improve safety at the crossroads.
This engagement is to inform the community of upcoming intersection improvements. This virtual public engagement will be open through May 26, 2026, at HCFL.gov/LithiaPinecrest-CR39.
An interim short‑term improvements project is also planned for this intersection, which includes adding a northbound left‑turn lane and extending the existing southbound right‑turn lane. For more details about the interim project, visit the Signalized Intersection Improvements project page.
The goal of the project is to improve traffic flow, safety, and multimodal access at the intersection by adding dedicated turn lanes, upgrading traffic-control devices, enhancing pedestrian features, and improving drainage infrastructure to support the expanded roadway and related improvements.
Design improvements could include:
Dual left-turn lanes on both Lithia Pinecrest Road approaches and single left-turn lanes on both C.R. 39 approaches. Provide single right-turn lanes on all approaches.
Updated signals, signage, and pavement markings to include pedestrian and bicycle accommodations. Upgraded drainage and add stormwater management ponds to accommodate additional pavement for turn lanes, sidewalk, shared-use paths, and curb and gutter.
