Hillsborough County makes sustainable choices easier than ever
Every month, Hillsborough County residents help divert 10-15 tons of clean recyclables from disposal at the waste-to-energy facility and the landfill. That's equivalent to two to three full recycling collection trucks, or about the weight of 20 to 30 adult manatees!
This Earth Month, the Solid Waste Management Department invites all residents within Hillsborough County to take simple, meaningful steps toward protecting the environment, starting with recycling. The County's five Community Collection Centers (CCCs) provide convenient, free drop-off recycling six days a week, Monday-Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
To make Earth-friendly habits even easier, the County recently refreshed all recycling drop-off containers with a fresh coat of bright blue paint and new recycling signage in English and Spanish. So now everyone can recycle confidently and correctly.
Since 2013, residents have dropped off over 1,200 tons of material, enough to fill 240 recycling collection trucks. This Earth Month, consider making a trip to a Community Collection Center part of your sustainability routine, a small action that adds up to big community impact.
Bring these items to a Community Collection Center near you. Place items clean, dry, and empty in the bin. No plastic bags or bagged recyclables, please.
