New online reservation system lets visitors book campsites ahead of time

Planning an outdoor getaway at three of Hillsborough County's most popular conservation parks is now easier than ever. The County has introduced a new online reservation system that allows campers to book sites ahead of time without visiting park offices in person.

Guests can search through nearly 200 campsites at Edward Medard, E.G. Simmons, and Lithia Springs Conservation Parks and book with the click of a button. Visitors can see exactly when and where campsites are available and reserve a specific site(s) up to six months in advance. Previously, potential campers had to visit the park in person the day of the reservation on a first-come, first-served basis, often leading to residents lining up an hour or more before the park opened.

Many guests are already taking advantage of the easy access.

"It's a lot easier," said Penny, who recently reserved a campsite through the new system. "I like the online system because when I'm in the state of Missouri where I'm from, I can go online and I can reserve my spot down here and know I'm going to get in".

County officials say the online system allows guests to select their preferred campsites rather than being assigned one based on availability. In addition to camping, these conservation parks offer several amenities, including hiking trails, kayaking, disc golf, and more. All three parks allow RV and tent camping.
