Apply by March 31 to be considered

It's never too early for students to start planning for summer! Hillsborough County invites local high school students seeking hands-on experience in government to apply for the 2026 RISE Internship program.

A unique opportunity

The Redefining Internships for Student Empowerment (RISE) program provides local rising and graduating seniors with a unique opportunity to gain real-world skills by working within various Hillsborough County departments. From Emergency Management and Public Works to Water Resources, Pet Resources, Parks & Recreation, and more, the RISE program offers positions to fit everyone's interests.

For eight weeks during summer break, the paid internship allows students to learn about Hillsborough County government and how it functions, as well as gain real, on-the-job training that is valuable in future careers. Additionally, each student will participate in a series of skill-building courses that include interviewing, personal finance, professionalism, and resume development.

Apply for RISE

Applications are open now through March 13, 2026. To learn about eligibility requirements, participating departments, key dates, and more, visit HCFL.gov/RISE.
