Hillsborough County is home to some of the best parks, libraries, programs, and activities in the nation

Are you looking for some local fun this summer? You don't need to go far or spend a lot of money to find it.

Hillsborough County is home to over 175 parks, a dozen recreation centers, 700 miles of trails, 61,000 acres of preserved land, and 28 libraries with lots of free classes and original art. You'll also find skate parks and dog parks, and even a drone park.

The County's Parks & Recreation department also offers hundreds of events and programs such as summer camp, adult and senior classes, and youth and adult sports leagues.

Outdoor Recreation

Get outdoors and discover Hillsborough County's wilderness. The county is the perfect place for wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation.

Esports

Esports is about the world of competitive video gaming with millions of fans from all over the planet, and it has taken root here in Hillsborough County. Meet and socialize with other gamers and compete in Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Mario Kart tournaments.

Recreation for People with Disabilities

The County has recreation programs for all people, including those with disabilities. Learn how you and your family can experience opportunities that include equestrian activities and wheelchair sports, among many others.

Recreation and Fitness Centers

Hillsborough County offers programming for the community at more than a dozen recreation centers across the county. These locations feature different amenities such as indoor basketball, fitness centers, enrichment classes, volleyball, and playgrounds.

Fitness Zones

Get your pump on at one of the County's Fitness Zones. Conveniently located in parks and along trails, each Fitness Zone has everything you need to get a full-body workout.

Skate Parks and Team

Would you like to learn how to ollie, kickflip, or drop-in? Or perhaps you'd like to skate with a crew? Consider trying out for the HC Skateboard Team, competing in the Best Shredder Competition, taking skate lessons, or visiting one of the County's free skate parks.

Summer Camps

Looking for something for your kids and teens to do during the summer? Hillsborough County offers camps from traditional and teens to specialty camps, with a variety of locations offering adaptive programs.

Youth Recreation Leagues

Is your kid interested in joining a sports team? Get them outside and exercising in a fun and safe environment with Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation Youth Recreation Leagues.

Adult Recreation Leagues

Hillsborough County provides a variety of organized sports leagues for adults, too. Join a basketball, flag football, kickball, or softball league.

Senior Centers and Events

Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative (HCPLC)

The County's libraries offer books, magazines, DVDs, ebooks, streaming music and movies, audiobooks, virtual and in-person educational classes and programs, community meeting space, and computer and wireless internet access. The HCPLC also offers Discovery Passes, which allow library card holders to reserve free admission to local museums and attractions.

Through the HCPLC you can also access one of the largest genealogy collections in the southeastern United States. Maybe this is the summer you dig into your family's roots and document your family tree?
