Hillsborough County, Fla. (June 24, 2026) - Hillsborough County Water Resources is issuing a precautionary boil water notice for some customers in the HCWRD South Central system in Wimauma.
Due to contractor work in the area, the minimum water pressure in the County's water distribution system dropped below the required regulatory level the Department of Health in Hillsborough County requires for a precautionary boil water notice.
This notice means customers are advised, as a precautionary measure, to boil all tap water used for cooking, drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A full rolling boil for one minute is sufficient; cool before using. Allow the water to run until it is clear before washing clothes. Discard any ice from automatic ice makers. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.
While there is no indication of contamination at this time, customers and businesses are advised to boil water as a precautionary measure until a rescission notice is issued. This notice has been issued out of an abundance of caution. Notices are rescinded after tests confirm the water meets water quality standards. Testing can generally take 48 hours, but the time can vary depending on the testing required.
The boundary for the precautionary boil water notice is south of Bonita Drive and north of Saffold Road/Dug Creek Road, east of U.S. Highway 301 and west of County Road 579. An estimated 1,024 residential and commercial connections are impacted by the precautionary boil water notice.
Residents and businesses will be notified of the rescission of the precautionary boil water notice in the same method that it was issued once all required testing has been completed.
