Updates have been made to the planned landfill changes that were set to take place on June 1

After receiving valuable feedback from the community regarding the elimination of residential drop-off at the Southeast County Landfill, the Solid Waste Management department is reversing that decision and will continue to provide the service at no cost.

The County places safety as a top priority, and the department understands the value this service brings to the community.

Are any changes taking effect June 1, 2026?

Changes will NOT be made to residential customer disposal procedures at the landfill on June 1, 2026. Residents can still dispose of trash and tires at the landfill using their property tax bill for their limited disposal allowance.
Individuals are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing, preferably a high-visibility shirt and closed-toed shoes for their safety.

Residents are encouraged to use the Community Collection Centers (CCCs) instead of the landfill for disposal

The landfill operates as an active industrial site with heavy equipment, large commercial vehicles, and ongoing disposal operations, which create conditions that are not ideal for non-commercial/residential customer traffic.

Using the CCCs provides residential customers a safer environment for unloading household items. Closed-toed shoes are required at the CCCs.
The closest CCCs to the Southeast County Landfill are Alderman's Ford CCC (North) and Wimauma CCC (West).
