Hillsborough County, Fla. (Jan. 28, 2026) - Hillsborough residents with a dream to start a new business can apply for the popular Self-Employment Workshop Program to help them go out on their own. The deadline is Feb. 15 to apply for the spring course.
This next class will be the 12th class to go through the program since it began in 2021. Applications can be found at HCFL.gov/FSBDC. Evening classes will be held online through Hillsborough County's Entrepreneur Services. See the full calendar for class dates and times.
Budding entrepreneurs will learn best practices to launch and run a successful small business in this no-cost program.
Each participant will receive in-depth business training and a dedicated small business consultant to help along the way.

This program is designed for individuals interested in self-employment and who meet the income qualifications below.
Applicants must provide evidence (paystub, tax return, or other approved documentation) that their household income does not exceed the following maximum qualifying annual income for calendar year 2025 based on family size:
- 1 - $31,300
- 2 - $42,300
- 3 - $53,300
- 4 - $64,300
- 5 - $75,300
