As tax season approaches once again, UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough offers helpful resources for residents as they prepare to file their federal tax returns. Each webinar conveniently takes place virtually from noon to 1 p.m.
Jan. 28: Federal Income Tax Updates
Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 28, residents can participate in a series of webinars on tax preparation and filing processes. The first webinar will focus on how new federal legislation affects individual tax filers, specifically reviewing new tax deductions, changes to tax credits, and 529 accounts.

Feb. 3: Free Tax Preparation Resources
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, participants will get clued into free, reliable tax preparation resources and necessary documents for filing. Answers to common filing questions will also be provided.

Feb. 18: Your Tax Return as a Financial Planning Tool
The series culminates on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with a presentation on how tax returns can be useful beyond April 15. Your tax return offers more than a snapshot of what you owe or get back - it's a guide for financial decisions. This session will break down key details like adjusted gross income, taxable income, and tax rates, and explore why a refund doesn't necessarily mean less paid in taxes.
