Licensed professional engineer assigned as a technical lead, project manager or team leader to provide engineering services for the investigation, evaluation, planning, computer modeling, design, construction, and construction inspection of public infrastructure and systems for projects.

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have the combination of Professional Engineer licensing, education, work experience, skills, and traits to provide effective technical leadership, project management and/or team leadership related to engineering services for the investigation, evaluation, planning, computer modeling, design, construction, and/or construction inspection of public infrastructure and systems for multi-component projects and/or programs of large size and high project value ($20 million and higher) that have high organizational visibility, impact and risk at the County level.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience with the engineering design of potable water, wastewater and/or reclaimed water infrastructure, treatment facilities, pump stations, gravity mains and/or force mains that meet Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) regulations. Working knowledge of computer aided design software (ex. AutoCAD Civil 3D) is a plus. Experience with emergency projects and/or construction manager at risk (CMAR) project delivery is a plus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in working with stakeholders to outline project goals, scope, deliverables, resources, budget and timing; as well as developing and implementing recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences.

They should exhibit excellent ability to use considerable initiative, think independently, and exercise sound judgment. They should be experienced with working cross-functionally (e.g., Department and Division Directors, Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Project Controls, Fiscal, Contracts, Procurement, Legal, Development Services) to solve problems and implement changes. They should be proficient with developing and presenting project documentation and reports. A proactive professional dedicated to customer commitment, integrity, continuous improvement and teamwork will thrive in this role.

Minimum qualifications

  • Registration in the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer (active status) in the applicable discipline as required by the Florida Statutes Chapter 471; AND
  • (An applicant who holds a valid license to practice engineering in another state or territory of the United States, must meet current requirements to be licensed in the state of Florida as a professional engineer, and obtain the license within 6 months of employment.)
  • Six years of post-registration experience as a Professional Engineer in the applicable discipline.
