Hours include storm recovery resources, curbside debris collection and debris drop-off sites

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Dec. 29, 2025) - Hillsborough County offices and many public facilities will be closed for the New Year's Day holiday. Solid Waste will collect garbage, yard waste, and recycling, and all Solid Waste facilities will be open on Wednesday, Dec. 31.
On New Year's Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, there will be recycling and yard waste collection for Hillsborough County Solid Waste customers whose collection day falls on Thursday. However, there will be no regular garbage collection. If your garbage collection falls on the holiday, service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day. There are no holiday make-up days for garbage collection. Regular garbage collection will resume Friday, Jan. 2.
Disposal sites, including community collection centers, yard and wood waste processing facilities, transfer stations, the Resource Recovery Facility, and the Southeast County Landfill, will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1.
Below is a list of the County offices and facilities that will be closed and open.
New Year's Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31

  • Staffed skate parks are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
  • Sunshine Line
  • Aging Services Senior Centers and Adult Day Care Centers
  • Dog parks are open from sunrise to sunset.  
  • Nature preserves  
  • Conservation parks 
  • Boat ramps 
  • Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center

Closed

If your trash collection date falls on the holiday, services will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day. The regular collection schedule will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.  There are no holiday make-up days for collection.

  • There will be recycling and yard waste collections for Hillsborough County Solid Waste customers whose pickup day falls on Thursday, Jan. 1. There will be no regular trash collection. If your trash collection date falls on the holiday, services will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day. The regular collection schedule will resume on Friday, Jan. 2. There are no holiday make-up days for collection.   
  • Dog parks are open from sunrise to sunset.  
  • Carrollwood Village Park will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.   
  • Conservation parks    
  • Nature preserves  
  • Boat ramps 
  • A limited number of Animal Safety and Code Enforcement officers will be on call for emergencies only.
  • Visit At Your Service to submit a customer service request 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.    

Friday, Jan. 2    

  • All County administrative offices and facilities are open. 
  • Regular garbage collection schedule will resume on Friday. There are no holiday make-up days for collection.   

Curbside pickup of live Christmas trees is available by taking these steps:  

  • Remove all decorations, lights, and tinsel  
  • Cut the tree into sections no larger than 4 feet long and 6 inches in diameter  
  • Place curbside on your regular yard waste collection day  

Drop off live trees at one of the following Yard Waste Processing Facilities, after removing all decorations, lights, and tinsel:  

  • South County Solid Waste Facility  
    13000 U.S. 41, Gibsonton, FL 33534   
  • Northwest County Solid Waste Facility  
    8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, FL 33625 

The two locations are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They will be closed on New Year's Day.
