County offices will be closed on Christmas Day and the day After Christmas
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2025) - Hillsborough County offices and many public facilities will be closed during the Christmas holiday. Below is a list of the County offices and facilities that will be closed and open.
There will be no garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Hillsborough County will offer regular collection service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26. Solid Waste facilities will close at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, and reopen regular hours on Friday, Dec. 26. Solid Waste administrative offices and customer service remain closed on Friday, Dec. 26.
Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25 -- Closed
- Administrative offices of County government
- Hillsborough County's main Customer Service Center at (813) 272-5900
- There will be no garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections. The regular collection schedule will resume on Friday, Dec. 26. There are no holiday make-up days for collection. If your collection date falls on a holiday, services will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.
- Disposal sites (community collection centers, yard and wood waste processing facilities, transfer stations, the Resource Recovery Facility, and Southeast County Landfill)
- All Tampa-Hillsborough County public libraries
- Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center

Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25 -- Open
- Dog parks open from sunrise to sunset
- Nature Preserves, except Apollo Beach Nature Preserve
- Boat ramps
- A limited number of Animal Control and Code Enforcement officers will be on call for emergencies only.
- Visit At Your Service to submit a customer service request 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.
Friday, Dec. 26 -- Closed

- Carrollwood Village Park open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Splash pads open from 9 a.m. to dusk. Staffed splash pads open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Dog parks open from sunrise to sunset
- Nature preserves, except Apollo Beach Nature Preserve
- Boat ramps

Curbside pickup of live Christmas trees is available by following these steps:
- Remove all decorations, lights, and tinsel
- Cut the tree into sections no larger than 4-feet long and 6-inches in diameter
- Place curbside on your regular yard waste collection day
Drop off live trees at one of the following yard waste processing facilities, after removing all decorations, lights, and tinsel:

After Christmas Day, the two locations are open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
