Family-friendly event highlighted the essential work of Public Works and Water Resources
More than 700 residents gathered at Hillsborough County's West Service Unit on Sheldon Road last month to take part in the third annual Public Service Day.
The engaging and educational event featured live demonstrations, free mosquitofish, and a variety of family-friendly activities. Residents had the opportunity to interact with County staff, explore large equipment up close, and learn about the critical services provided by Public Works and Water Resources.
Public Service Day provided hands-on learning experiences for children and adults alike. Attendees viewed and learned about the machinery and tools used in public infrastructure projects, including the Mosquito Management helicopter, garbage and fire trucks, a front-end loader, asphalt grader, camera truck, large and small excavators, jet vac, mini skid, and more.
Several other County departments joined the celebration, including Fire Rescue, Sunshine Line, the Mobile Library, Fleet Management, Neighborhood Relations, Solid Waste, Parks & Recreation, Environmental Services, and Human Resources.
Public Service Day continues to grow each year, strengthening the connection between Hillsborough County residents and the people who help keep their communities running smoothly.
