Palm River, Ybor City, South Tampa areas will be treated
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2026) - Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services will conduct aerial applications of Dibrom insecticide to control adult mosquitoes from 8:30 p.m. Sept. 15 to 6 a.m. Sept. 16 at the following locations:
Palm River
- North Boundary: Lee Roy Selmon Expressway
- South Boundary: South Falkenburg Road/Madison Avenue
- East Boundary: U.S. Hwy. 301
- West Boundary: Hillsborough Bay
South Tampa
- North Boundary: Columbus Drive
- South Boundary: South San Miguel Street
- East Boundary: Hillsborough River/Hillsborough Bay (body of water)
- West Boundary: Manhattan Avenue
Ybor City (treatment from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.)
- North Boundary: I-4
- South Boundary: Lee Roy Selmon Expressway
- East Boundary: North 39th Street
- West Boundary: Nebraska Avenue
The mission will be flown by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet, with an application rate of .66 ounces per acre.
- First alternate spray date: Sept. 16, 2026
- Second alternate spray date: Sept. 17, 2026
Hillsborough County Mosquito Management is urging residents across the County to take action to protect themselves from mosquitoes.
Mosquito Management crews are increasing treatments by air and ground because mosquito traps in many neighborhoods are showing dengue fever virus activity in the mosquito populations.
The Mosquito Management team has worked closely with Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County for surveillance, education, and treatment in the impacted area.
Residents can do their part as well by following the 3 Ds:
- Dress in light-colored, long-sleeved clothing with closed-toed shoes.
- Defend using an insect repellent with a CDC-recommended ingredient such as DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
- Dump or cover standing water.
