Approved rate adjustments will support reliable year-round services and fund more than $2.4 billion in critical infrastructure and capital improvement projects

Beginning Oct. 1, 2026, new water and wastewater rates will take effect for all Hillsborough County Water Resources customers. The updated rates, approved by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, reflect necessary adjustments that help maintain safe, reliable water and wastewater services to residents year‑round.

Residential customers using an average of 8,000 gallons of water per month can expect an estimated bill increase of approximately $9.31 monthly. The amount of each customer's bill will continue to vary based on meter size, water consumption, and wastewater service.

For Fiscal Year 2027, the board approved:

  • A 5% rate increase
  • A 2.91% price index increase
  • A Tampa Bay Water passthrough charge increases from $3.02 to $3.04 per 1,000 gallons

Water and wastewater rates fund the services, infrastructure, and capital programs necessary to ensure reliable service to customers and provide safe, dependable water and wastewater services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These rates help address increasing operating costs, maintenance, system improvements, resiliency needs, regulatory requirements, and investments in critical infrastructure required to serve Hillsborough County's customers.

The increase will help fund Water Resources' current Capital Improvement projects which include:
