Established in 2005, National Water Quality Month encourages communities to think about how they can help protect natural water sources

August is National Water Quality Month and is a time to celebrate Hillsborough County Water Resources for delivering clean, safe, and affordable drinking water every day. The work is backed by science, innovation, and commitment to excellence.

Every day, Water Resources provides more than 78 million gallons of clean, safe drinking water to over 750,000 residents. Whether residents are drinking it, filling their pet's bowl, or bathing or cooking with it, the County's water remains safe, trusted, and affordable. It's truly Quality on Tap.

In 2025, the County's water professionals collected nearly 8,000 water samples and performed over 31,000 tests to ensure drinking water consistently meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. The County's certified environmental laboratory conducts thousands of additional analyses each year to guarantee that residents' water is not only safe, but of high quality.

Drinking tap water continues to be one of the most cost-effective ways to stay hydrated. At just $4.10 per 1,000 gallons, County water remains a fraction of the price of bottled water, making it better for your wallet and the environment. Behind the scenes, trained water professionals work around the clock to protect public health, strengthen water infrastructure, and preserve the region's vital water resources.

Residents can explore detailed information about the County's water in the annual Water Quality Reports, which outline key data and testing results.

Take the Hillsborough County Quality on Tap pledge and help protect and celebrate one of our region's most valuable resources...water.
