Board honors NCAA, Tampa Bay Sports Commission, University of South Florida, and Amalie Arena for hosting premiere basketball event.

Basketball was the name of the game during the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners' April 2 meeting as commissioners presented a proclamation declaring April 3 through April 6, 2025 as NCAA Women's Final Four Championship Days. Lynn Holzman, NCAA Vice President of Women's Basketball, and Rob Higgins, Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, accepted the recognition.

Hillsborough County is hosting the NCAA Women's Final Four, America's premier women's basketball championship, for a record-setting fourth time at the Amalie Arena. The Women's Final Four will welcome more than 30,000 fans from all over the United States to Hillsborough County this weekend. The NCAA and the Tampa Bay Local Organizing Committee have partnered with community leaders and organizations to develop social programs that set the standard and grow the game, leaving a lasting impact, impression, and legacy on the community.

After receiving the proclamation, Holzman thanked the Board and said that it is a pleasure to have the Final Four in Tampa for the fourth time.

"That is a testament to what this community has to offer," she said. "Really, the outpouring of support, but frankly it's the professionalism and really what this community has to offer. We couldn't be more excited to be back in this community."

The Board also presented a proclamation declaring April 2025 as Water Conservation Month and May 18 through May 24, 2025 as Florida Water Reuse Week.
