New contest deadline is Feb. 22
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Feb. 7, 2025) - Hillsborough County is extending the deadline for the 2025 Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest for K-12 students. The new deadline is Feb. 22. Students can show off their art skills and use them with a passion for water conservation to raise awareness in this annual project by Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa.
To enter, students must create a poster depicting a water conservation idea, slogan, or drawing. The goal is to educate and raise awareness about water conservation. The poster must be drawn on 8½ x 11-inch white paper, and the drawing can be vertical or horizontal. Students may use crayons, paint, color pencils, or markers. No highlighters, photos, or computer graphics are permitted.
The divisions include:
- Division 1: Kindergarten and first grade
- Division 2: Grades second and third
- Division 3: Grades fourth and fifth
- Division 4: Grades sixth, seventh, and eighth
- Division 5: Grades ninth, 10th, 11th, and 12th
Schools can only submit one winning poster for each division. Visit HCFL.gov/DropSavers to see the rules, the steps on how to submit the poster, and view past winners. The new deadline is Feb. 22, 2025.
The contest is open to all students in Hillsborough County, including home-schooled students and those attending public, charter, and private schools.
First-place winners will win a custom jigsaw puzzle with the winner's poster design, posters of their artwork, a water conservation kit, a state park prize package, and reusable water bottles imprinted with their artwork for the student and the class. The winners advance to compete in the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association statewide poster contest, which offers additional prizes for the winners. First-, second-, and third-place winners in Hillsborough County also will receive an invitation to be honored at a Hillsborough County School Board meeting, a certificate of recognition and appreciation, an online display of the winning artwork, and potential media recognition.
