Commissioners recognize Commission on Human Trafficking of Hillsborough County for dedication to protecting the vulnerable
During its Jan. 15 meeting, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners declared January 2025 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Hillsborough County. Charles Klug of Port Tampa Bay, chair of the Commission on Human Trafficking of Hillsborough County, and Tampa Police Detective Tony Aguiar accepted the proclamation.
According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center, Florida ranks third in the nation for the number of tip calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. The Commission on Human Trafficking and its community partners have worked tirelessly to help the brave survivors of this crime recover, move forward, and overcome their fears and challenges.
After thanking the Board for the recognition, Aguiar said he was impressed by the work that has been accomplished by the Commission on Human Trafficking and its community partners.
"It is through partnerships like these that we as a community can work towards protecting Hillsborough County's most vulnerable," he said.
