Project also will improve 50th Street and Fletcher Avenue
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2024) - Hillsborough County will improve safety and operations at the intersection of 50th Street and USF Holly Drive.
The project will add turn lanes and upgrade crosswalks and sidewalks.
The intersection improvement project is part of the Intersection Operation and Safety Enhancement Program.
Intersection improvements at 50th Street and USF Holly Drive will include the following signal and pedestrian safety features:
- A new lane will be constructed northbound on 50th Street to serve as a westbound left-turn lane.
- A new southbound left-turn lane will be constructed at South Village Circle and Excellence Boulevard.
At Fletcher Avenue and 50th Street, more intersection improvements will be implemented for safety and mobility:
- A new second northbound-to-westbound left-turn lane will be added.
- The project also will convert an eastbound lane into two separate lanes for through traffic and right turns.
The design considers existing and future traffic conditions, focusing on morning and evening peak hours, using the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Model.
Residents can learn more about the project and provide feedback at the Hillsborough County Education and Engagement Hub.
Public comment for the 50th Street and USF Holly Drive, and 50th Street and Fletcher Avenue Intersection Improvements Project will be accepted through Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.
