Tampa City Ballet (TCB) Presents ERA on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 PM
ERA is a creative development showcase where choreographers and dance researchers with a passion for movement bring their creative visions and blossom into the next generation of dance pioneers. New Tampa Players presents Little Shop of Horrors
Get into the Halloween spirit with Little Shop of Horrors. New Tampa Players will feed the need for musical hilarity with this delicious sci-fi smash about a singing, man-eating plant. New Tampa Unplugged: WAHH! World Fusion Band on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m.
Inspired by the hit show, MTV Unplugged, the New Tampa Unplugged concert series presents acoustic, unplugged performances by notable Tampa Bay area musicians. WAHH! World Fusion Band creates an exciting blend of Indian raga, jazz, and rock. With all original music, the band has a contemporary style with Indian and Eastern influences. New Tampa Jazz Nights: Tom Brantley, J.J. Johnson Centennial Celebration on Monday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m.
New Tampa Jazz Nights is presented by NTPAC and Tampa Jazz Club. Trombonist Tom Brantley pays tribute to the eminent trombonist and composer J. J. Johnson during the year of his centennial. A USF professor since 1999, Brantley leads a seven-piece band of remarkable colleagues from the University of South Florida faculty. Tickets range $10-$30 and can be purchased on the Tampa Jazz Club website.
Five-Dollar Flicks: Roger Corman's The Little Shop of Horrors (1960) on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
NTPAC showcases movies on the big screen for $5 a ticket. Catch the Roger Corman film that's the genesis for the popular Broadway musical. Made in 1960, the film tells the story of Seymour, a clumsy young man working for a skid-row florist who creates a new plant that feeds on human blood. Soon, Seymour is murdering to keep his creation happy. The Little Shop of Horrors stars Jonathan Haze, Jackie Joseph, and Jack Nicholson in one of his first motion picture roles.
