Hurricane Helene Update No. 29

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Oct. 4, 2024) - The Hillsborough Heights Community Collection Center located at 6209 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584, will begin temporarily accepting yard waste generated from Hurricane Helene on Saturday, Oct. 5, until further notice.

The yard waste drop off facility is open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. seven days a week for all Hillsborough County residents with identification. Examples of yard waste include tree branches, limbs, and brush generated from the hurricane. Bagged yard waste will not be accepted.

Residents must open any bagged yard waste before being allowed to dispose of it at the site to ensure the material can be recycled. For a complete list of what is accepted, visit HCFL.gov/YardWaste.

Other yard waste drop off facilities include The Northwest County Solid Waste Facility located at 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, FL 33625, and the South County Solid Waste Facility located at 13000 U.S. Hwy. 41 Gibsonton, FL 33534, which will also be open for extended hours from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. through Sunday, Oct. 6.

For residents who leave yard waste curbside, County officials urge patience as crews work to clean up the community impacted by Hurricane Helene.
