Family-friendly event showcased County equipment and the work of Public Works and Water Resources

More than 400 residents ascended upon the County's West Service Unit on Sheldon Road last month and participated in live demonstrations, received free mosquitofish and enjoyed a family-friendly morning. Public Service Day included a bounce house for kids, free food and drinks, giveaways and a job fair.

Public Service Day offered a unique opportunity for residents to see large equipment up close, meet County employees, and to learn about the vital work carried out by the County. Attendees saw firsthand the machinery and tools used in various public projects. Trucks and equipment that were on display included the Mosquito Management helicopter, garbage and fire trucks, front-end loader, asphalt grader, camera track, large and small excavators, jet vac, mini skid and more.

Other County departments participating in Public Service Day were Fire Rescue, Sunshine Line, Mobile Library, Fleet Management, Solid Waste, Parks & Recreation, and Environmental Services. In addition, Human Resources interviewed potential job candidates and made several job offers.
