Residents can provide input in-person or online starting May 6

Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 6, 2024) - Residents are invited to provide feedback on potential programming opportunities at Hillsborough County's new African American Arts and Cultural Center (AAACC) located at 2103 N. Rome Ave., Tampa, FL 33607, the current site of the West Tampa Community Resource Center. The upcoming community engagements will provide information on programming opportunities and updates on design. This is the second round of public input for this project.

Residents will have the opportunity to participate in three in-person public meetings starting May 6. Residents can also provide input through the County's engagement and education hub, HCFL.gov/HCEngage until May 20.

Hillsborough County staff will be available to answer questions as residents learn about possible programming opportunities for both the indoor and outdoor spaces. Residents can look forward to learning about possible themed rooms like an art studio, cultural studio, music studio, and dance studio. Residents will also learn about the wide variety of potential events that could be held on the property like Movies on the Lawn, wellness events, vendor markets, and performances.

The design phase of the project is currently underway and funded by a State of Florida African American Cultural and Historical grant. Construction is partially funded and will be scheduled after an approved funding plan is established. The facility construction cost is currently estimated at $30 million.
