Commissioners recognize Marsha Passmore and Alex Sink for their service to the community
During the March 6 Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Board presented a commendation to Marsha Passmore and Alex Sink, who were selected for induction into the Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
The Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame was created in 2011 by the Commission on the Status of Women. The Women's Hall of Fame honors women who, through their outstanding lives and efforts, have made significant contributions to the improvement of life for women and all residents of Hillsborough County. Since the 1970s, Ms. Passmore has dedicated her life to service, most notably working with the Business & Professional Women's Club and serving on the Plant City Commission. Ms. Sink served four years as the second Chief Financial Officer for the State of Florida and has made tremendous strides for the community and state through her work with numerous organizations including United Way Suncoast, Florida Next, and Tampa Bay Wave.
After accepting the commendation, Passmore expressed her gratitude on being inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame.
"I really appreciate the Hillsborough County Commission and the women who have selected me today for this honor," she said. "It is such a privilege to serve Hillsborough County."
Sink also thanked the Board after accepting her commendation and expressed appreciation for its support.
"I can't tell you what an incredible honor this is, especially when I look at the previous recipients of this award since 2011," Sink said. "Thanks to the Commission on the Status of Women for establishing this award to recognize just a few of the hundreds of thousands of women in this county who participate and contribute."
