A comprehensive drinking water, wastewater, and reclaimed water solution
Hillsborough County’s One Water Program is a forward-thinking, large-scale initiative to ensure resiliency and sustainability for Hillsborough County water customers. Led by Water Resources, the program addresses both immediate and long-term water and wastewater needs in the County’s South-Central Service Area, which includes Apollo Beach, Brandon, Gibsonton, Riverview, Ruskin, Wimauma, Sun City, and Valrico.
The program will improve South County’s drinking water supply and pressure, using state-of-the-art facilities to create a clean and trusted water supply. This $1.6 billion program represents a significant investment in strengthening the region’s drinking water supply and wastewater treatment capabilities to support population growth and the environment.
The One Water Program recognizes that water is part of a continuous cycle, from stormwater to wastewater to reclaimed water, that will ultimately return to the County’s drinking water supply. As this cycle is managed in our built environment, the County is working to protect every part of it. That means safeguarding all water sources, not just drinking water sources.
The One Water Program brings these efforts together, managing the entire cycle as one interconnected system to ensure reliability, safety, and sustainability.
By unifying the approach to water in all its forms, the County is taking responsible action to protect public health, support growth and development, and preserve this vital resource for future generations.
