Hillsborough County is committed to creating safer roads for everyone.

To support that mission, we’ve developed an online Safety Dashboard that tracks fatal and severe-injury traffic crashes in the unincorporated areas of the county.

Understanding the County’s safety needs, and where the fatal and severe-injury crashes occurred, plays an important role in identifying ways to address them.

This interactive tool makes it easier for residents, planners, and community members to understand where crashes occur and what types of incidents are happening on our roads.

What the Dashboard shows

The Safety Dashboard highlights fatal and severe-injury crashes, including those involving pedestrians and bicyclists, at and near intersections (within an influence area of 250 feet).

Here’s some of what you’ll find inside:

  • Historical trends in fatal and severe crashes
  • Types of crashes happening at and near intersections
  • Details on fatal and severe‑injury crashes, including the number of people involved
  • Insights into pedestrian and bicycle‑related incidents

Because a single crash can impact multiple people, the number of severe crashes and the number of people seriously injured or killed may differ.

Where the data comes from

The dashboard is powered by data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), the state’s official custodian of crash records. Information is updated continuously as new data becomes available. Please note that data is considered preliminary until the state finalizes each year’s records, which may result in occasional adjustments.
