This agency administers the trauma system for Hillsborough County and is part of the trauma, EMS, and healthcare systems of the Tampa Bay area
The Hillsborough County Trauma Agency is part of the Health Care Services department. The Hillsborough County Trauma System and Trauma Agency were established Jan. 1, 1990 when the Board of County Commissioners and Florida Department of Health approved the initial trauma system plan for Hillsborough County.
As a coalition of public/private partners with resources to positively impact the care of the severely injured, today the Trauma Agency continues its responsibility of administering an inclusive trauma system for Hillsborough County and is an integral part of the trauma, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and healthcare systems of the greater Tampa Bay region.
Guided by its 5-Year Strategic Plan for an Inclusive Trauma System and the support of its Trauma Agency Coalition (TAC), the Trauma Agency works to ensure a coordinated system where injuries are prevented and severely injured people receive the highest quality care for the best possible outcomes.
