Comic Book Legends Behind Harley Quinn Coming to Riverview Public Library

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2026) - Comic book fans will have a rare opportunity to meet two of the creators who helped shape the modern Harley Quinn character when award-winning artists and writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti visit the Riverview Public Library (9951 Balm Riverview Rd., Riverview, FL 33569) from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

The event, "An Afternoon with Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti," will give teen and adult fans of comic books an inside look at what it takes to create characters, artwork, and stories for some of the biggest names in comics. During the panel, Conner and Palmiotti will share behind-the-scenes stories from their careers with DC, Marvel, and other major publishers and offer comic fans a glimpse into the creative process behind professional comics.

Comic book-themed activities will also be offered throughout the day, and attendees can receive a free book while supplies last. The program is recommended for teens and adults and is free to attend.

Conner and Palmiotti are best known for their acclaimed work on DC Comics' "Harley Quinn." Their years-long run helped redefine the character for a new generation, and their work influenced elements of the 2020 film "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)."

Conner has spent more than three decades illustrating some of comics' most recognizable characters, with credits including "Harley Quinn," "Power Girl," "Vampirella," "Wonder Woman," and "Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre." Palmiotti is an award-winning writer, artist, and creator whose credits include "Harley Quinn," "Deadpool," "Punisher," "Daredevil," and "Jonah Hex."
