Website, call center, and assistance center will be available to help with application process

Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 15, 2026) - Hillsborough County residents soon will be able to apply for more than $200 million in hurricane relief funds for homeowners as part of the County's Rebuilding for Tomorrow program.

Hillsborough County has been awarded $709 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) to assist with recovery and mitigation efforts related to Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024.

About $211 million of that amount will be dedicated to the Homeowner Repair and Reconstruction Program. Qualified homeowners may get funding and support to repair or rebuild their homes. For those who have already repaired home damages from Hurricanes Helene or Milton, reimbursement programs are available for qualified homeowners.

Residents can qualify for up to $350,000 to replace or rebuild storm-damaged housing; $10,000 - $50,000 in reimbursement for permitted work already completed by the homeowner; or up to $150,000 in repairs that have not been covered under other programs.

Hillsborough has created a website - RebuildingForTomorrow.HCFL.gov - and will soon open an assistance center and a call center to give residents information about how to apply for these programs. Residents can submit applications beginning May 1, and the program will remain open until all funding is obligated. The program will serve households that meet income eligibility guidelines in addition to home ownership, occupancy, etc.

The call center will open Monday, April 20. Residents can call (813) 540-7767 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In May, the hours will expand to Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grant funding will also go towards projects to repair damage the storms caused to roads, canals, culverts, pump stations, wastewater lift stations, and other infrastructure, and for projects that will improve the area's resilience for future storms.
