Seminole Heights, Sulphur Springs, and East Tampa areas will be treated by helicopter
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2026) - Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services will conduct aerial applications of Dibrom insecticide to control adult mosquitoes Thursday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, at the following locations:
Seminole Heights/East Tampa- North Boundary: Busch Boulevard
- South Boundary: I-4/I-275
- East Boundary: North 29th Street
- West Boundary: North Armenia Avenue
The mission will be flown by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet, with an application rate of one ounce per acre.
- First alternate spray date: Sept. 4, 2026
- Second alternate spray date: Sept. 5, 2026
Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services is urging residents across Tampa to take action to protect themselves from mosquitoes. Mosquito Management crews are increasing treatments by air and ground because mosquito traps in many neighborhoods are showing dengue fever virus activity in the mosquito populations.
The Mosquito Management team has worked closely with Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County for surveillance, education, and treatment in the impacted area.
Residents can do their part as well by following the 3 Ds:
- Dress in light-colored, long-sleeved clothing with closed-toed shoes.
- Defend using an insect repellent with a CDC-recommended ingredient such as DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
- Dump or cover standing water.
