Keep kids active, entertained, and learning during their time off from school

Spring break is almost here, a time when students get a break from the classroom. But just because the fun starts, it doesn't mean the learning has to stop.

Several events, programs, and camps are scheduled for next week that welcome kids of all ages and interests.

Learn at libraries

Hillsborough County Libraries are places where learning and fun go hand in hand this spring break. The libraries are featuring an exciting line-up of events all week. Register for in-person story time events at select library branches for children up to age 7.

For teens, learn how to make your own vinyl stickers. County librarians say spring break is a great opportunity for kids to expand their knowledge outside of the classroom. Find more information and a full list of spring break events at the Hillsborough County Library Services website.

Claim a campsite

Families looking to enjoy the outdoors can visit one of Hillsborough County's conservation parks. Booking a campsite is now easier than ever. Guests can reserve campsites online at three of the county's most popular parks with the click of a button.

The new online reservation system allows visitors to browse nearly 200 campsites and book their stay.

Visitors can take in the views from the observation tower and explore the hiking trails at Edward Medard Conservation Park. Or enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear spring at Lithia Springs Conservation Park, where the water stays a constant 72 degrees year-round.

Give a pet a break, too

If you're looking for a hiking buddy, the Pet Resource Center emphasizes that pets need a spring break, too. Check out the Adventure Tails Program, where fosters can take a shelter dog out for the day, giving the animal a break from shelter life.

The Pet Resource Center will provide a goody bag with several items including a water bowl, a toy, and a bag of treats. Learn more about other foster opportunities.

Unleash your creative side

Students interested in theater can also explore their creative side during spring break. The New Tampa Performing Arts Center is hosting Encore! Camp, which invites kids ages 7 to 13 to explore acting, dance, singing, and even stage makeup.
