Just like clockwork, hurricane season is back, and Hillsborough County is ready to help residents stay safe and informed. Whether it's your first season or your 50th, preparation is key. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30, with the peak months typically between August and October. This year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting an above-average season, with 13 to 19 named storms, six to 10 hurricanes, and between three to five major hurricanes possible.

So, what should you do now?

    Hillsborough County's official emergency notification system will send you real-time alerts about local severe weather, evacuation orders, flood risks, shelter openings, and more.
  2. Follow Hillsborough on Social Media.
    Get timely updates before, during, and after a storm from Hillsborough's verified accounts on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
