Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 15, 2025) - Hillsborough County Consumer & Veterans Services will raise one of the largest flags of the United States of America in the county on Armed Forces Day.
The raising of the flag will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins, Jr. Veterans Museum, 3602 U.S. Hwy. 301 N., Tampa, FL 33619.
The MacDill Air Force Base Honor Guard will participate in hoisting the 30-by-60-foot flag to fly more than 150 feet over the park. The new addition is one of the largest and tallest flags of the United States of America in Hillsborough County and is officially permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The flag-raising ceremony coincides with Armed Forces Day, a tribute to the men and women currently serving in all branches of the United States Armed Forces. The new flag is also aimed at increasing awareness of Veterans Memorial Park for all visitors. This month, Hillsborough County Consumer & Veterans Services will also host the County's Memorial Day Observance, set for 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25. All events are free and open to the public.
Hillsborough County remains the most Veteran-populated county in Florida. Hillsborough County Consumer & Veterans Services has a team of accredited Veterans Service Officers who provide free Veterans Affairs claims assistance to Veterans and their families at multiple locations.
