FEMA specialists will provide free expert tips, insurance guidance, and assistance with disaster recovery applications.
As communities in Florida recover from Hurricanes Milton, Helene, and Debby, FEMA mitigation experts are providing free advice to help residents rebuild stronger and safer homes.
From Feb. 3- 8, FEMA specialists will be available to answer questions, share home improvement tips, and recommend proven methods to minimize future storm damage. The information is for both do-it-yourselfers and general contractors.
In addition, an insurance specialist will be on-site to address questions related to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will assist with FEMA application updates and questions.
The sessions will run 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday -Friday and 7 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday at the following locations:
- Hillsborough County: The Home Depot, 5125 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, FL 33611
- Pinellas County: Ace Hardware, 2827 9th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33710
FEMA's mitigation efforts aim to reduce the loss of life and property damage by promoting construction and remodeling practices that help withstand future disasters. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these resources to better prepare for storms and enhance the resilience of their homes.
