Hillsborough County, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2025) - Hillsborough County Extension Service is hosting the Tree and Landscape Short Course on Feb. 5 at the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center, 14625 County Road 672, Wimauma, FL 33598.

This professional development training opportunity for the professional landscape and arboriculture community is designed to provide practical industry updates from research scientists and professionals.

After an unprecedented 2024 hurricane season, this year's program will include valuable insights on hurricane-related topics to help landscape professionals stay on top of their game. Attendees will gain important information on how hurricanes can change landscapes over time, how storms can increase bark beetle infestations in pine trees in urban areas, and the latest updates on tree root inspections.

The day will include four general session presentations covering urban insects, bark beetles and hurricane response, soils in urban environments, and other topics. Special sessions will focus on professional areas of interest, including root inspections and demystifying tree codes, equipment calibration, pesticide rotation, and more.
