Panelists will address how to be more inclusive to people with dementia and their care partners
Hillsborough County, Fla. (Dec. 4, 2024) - Hillsborough County Adult Day Services will host a symposium and breakfast to discuss the challenges of dementia and introduce a program designed to help create a more dementia-friendly community.
The symposium and panel discussion will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the University Area Community Development Corporation, 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33613. The panelists will include professionals from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, University of South Florida Memory Disorder Clinic, Alzheimer's Association, and the University of South Florida Byrd Institute. In addition, Hillsborough County Adult Day Care Services will announce and launch the Caring About Unifying and Supporting Elders with Dementia (C.A.U.S.E.D.) initiative, designed to bring together a coalition of businesses and groups that foster inclusion and support people with dementia and their care partners.
The program is open to the public, including business leaders, business owners, caregivers, medical services, and support services.
Through C.A.U.S.E.D., Hillsborough County Adult Day Services is hoping to create a community that is informed, safe, and respectful of individuals living with dementia, their families, and caregivers, and that provides supportive options that improve quality of life. Event organizers aim to inspire participants in the forum and through C.A.U.S.E.D. to adopt practices that allow people with dementia and their caregivers to feel more included and comfortable.
