Hillsborough County, Fla. (May 15, 2024) - Hillsborough County is studying Lithia Pinecrest Road to identify and evaluate potential improvements to the roadway from Fishhawk Boulevard at approximately 6.2 miles to Lumsden Road, and on Bloomingdale Avenue from Culbreath Road to Pearson Road. The total project length is 7.5 miles.

Residents who travel on Lithia Pinecrest Road have two options to participate in the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study. The County is hosting an in-person opportunity for residents to study the corridor and the proposed improvements on Tuesday, May 21, at the Bloomingdale High School cafeteria. Residents also can participate in a virtual engagement through June 10.

The public is invited to offer comments on this project and can sign up to receive updates for the duration of the project.

Safe mobility for all roadway users, regardless of mode of travel, will be considered and incorporated into the study and the alternatives evaluated. Alternatives are being generated based on the result of a traffic analysis and feedback provided by the community. These alternatives may include:

  • Widening for additional through-lane capacity
  • Access management improvements to incorporate turn lanes onto side streets
  • Intersection analysis to evaluate roundabout alternatives and other intersection configurations
  • Improved pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, including shared-use paths, a connected sidewalk system, buffered bike lanes, mid-block crossings, etc.
  • Moderating travel speeds to improve safety through reduced lane widths, lane deflections, landscaping, context-based roadway treatments, etc.

Residents can access the public engagement on the county's Education & Engagement Hub through June 10.

The public workshop will provide the community with an in-person opportunity to review the study and a chance to see the study up close.
