Daily Field Schedule & Open Use Rules

Open Play: All fields not reserved for a permitted activity are open for public unorganized use daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, unless otherwise posted. Paid training and organized practice require a rental permit. Permitted League Use: At 4:00 PM, fields close to the public so staff can prepare them for permitted leagues and Open Play (when scheduled). *Unless otherwise noted on the field schedule below. Field Access During Permitted League Use & Open Play Field Access Designation: Once permitted league play begins, only players and badged coaches are permitted onto the field space occupied by leagues. Spectator Seating: Spectators are only allowed in designated spectator seating areas.

Prohibited Activities Using mechanical, motor, or electrical vehicles on the turf Climbing, standing on, or jumping over equipment or fences Dragging goals, or moving goals Batting or hitting baseballs Utilizing unlighted fields after sunset Conducting personal training or organized play without a permit Tobacco-Free Policy The use of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco is prohibited in this area to protect children Heat Safety Programs may be adjusted or canceled during periods of extreme heat in accordance with safety guidelines Sports Complex Conduct Rules Loud music and offensive language are prohibited Use of amplified sound (portable speakers, PA systems) that exceeds a reasonable volume or disrupts others is prohibited Sound volume must not interfere with neighboring games, practices, or public enjoyment of the park DJ booths or car-mounted sound systems are only allowed with special event approval Use of profanity, slurs, hate speech, or language deemed inappropriate for a family environment (including by coaches, players, spectators, or trainers) is prohibited Applies to both organized programming and informal use

About SouthShore Sportsplex

The SouthShore Sportsplex features four multisport athletic fields, all featuring synthetic Astro turf. The fields are able to accommodate a variety of different sports, including soccer, football, and lacrosse. The fields are available to rent for practice, league play, and tournaments.

In addition, if lightning is detected within a 10‑mile radius, all operations pause until conditions are clear. During lightning delays, all park users must leave the fields immediately and seek shelter in a hard‑topped vehicle or exit the facility.

Fields are open to all park visitors for casual, non‑organized, and non‑paid activities.

Open Play Field Pass Announcement:

Beginning January 2027, all SouthShore Open Play participants will be required to have a free Open Play Field Pass to access athletic fields during peak usage times when youth and adult leagues are using the complex—typically after 4 pm on weekdays and between 8am and 2pm on Saturdays.

The Open Play Field Pass gives users the ability to register for designated Open Play activities—including pickup soccer, pickup flag football, and general skills, drills, and conditioning—on the specific days and times those activities are scheduled. Pass holders may sign up for these activities whenever they are offered, ensuring organized access and safe participation during peak programming hours.

To help us plan for community needs and improve scheduling, we encourage all users to complete the Field Pass Survey and register for their Field Pass now, so they are fully ready when the pass becomes required on January 1, 2027.

Rent Athletic Fields

Pets are not allowed on the fields. Food and colored drinks are not permitted on the fields. To preserve the longevity and safety of the fields, please consume food and drinks in the designated picnic areas and bleachers surrounding the field. Cleaning and repairing artificial turf fields that have been subjected to food and drink-related damage can be costly and time-consuming. These expenses may divert resources away from maintaining the fields for their intended purpose.
