Originally founded in 1934 as the first public high school for African American students in Tampa, Middleton's legacy is one of perseverance, community strength, and academic excellence.
Came back strong after closed for 31 years
In 1971, Middleton High closed due to desegregation only to reopen in 2002. Today, the school is nationally recognized for its focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), offering students pathways to success through rigorous academics and industry partnerships.
