How and where to dispose of alkaline batteries

Single-use batteries only work for a limited amount of time. Single-use alkaline batteries include AA, AAA, 9 volt and D cells. You find these batteries in alarm clocks, remotes, flashlights, smoke detectors and other items. Alkaline batteries are safe to dispose of in your grey trash cart.
