Hillsborough County’s Rebuilding for Tomorrow programs will invest in rebuilding homes and neighborhoods damaged by Hurricanes Helene and Milton
Hillsborough County is investing federal Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds in a comprehensive recovery program that repairs storm damages, supports residents and businesses, and strengthens community resilience after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
About the CDBG-DR Program
After Hurricanes Helene and Milton caused widespread damage across Hillsborough County, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the County $709.3 million in Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding to support long-term recovery and resilience. This funding helps residents, businesses, and communities rebuild in ways that make them safer, stronger, and better prepared for future storms. Because the entire county was designated as a HUD Most Impacted and Distressed (MID) area, 100% of CDBG-DR funds will be invested locally across Hillsborough County. Rebuilding for Tomorrow programs are designed to meet HUD national objectives, reduce disaster risks, support vulnerable populations, and ensure that at least 70% of all funding benefits low- and moderate-income residents, as required by federal law.
