Board recognizes local and national Hispanic organizations for their contributions to the community
Since 1988, Hispanic Heritage Month has been recognized across the nation for 30 days every year, especially in Hillsborough County. During its Sept. 16 meeting, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation declaring Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2026, as Hispanic Heritage Month. Chefs Rosana Rivera and Ricardo Castro, co-owners of their restaurant Chef & The Baker, accepted the recognition.
After accepting the proclamation, the couple thanked the Board, and Rivera recognized Hillsborough County for its support and kindness to business owners.
"This is a very tight-knit community, and representing our heritage is incredibly humbling," she said. "To me, the word 'hospitality' means in the service of others. And we're extremely grateful that our craft is something that we can do and thrive here in Hillsborough County."
The Board also presented a proclamation declaring Oct. 2, 2026, as Florida Manufacturing Day and October 2026 as Florida Manufacturing Month in Hillsborough County, honoring the hard work and accomplishments of all professionals, agencies, and organizations who bring value to Hillsborough County's manufacturing sector and economy.
